The Background and History of the Battle of Gettysburg:

The Battle of Gettysburg was a pivotal battle in the history of America. This battle was the largest and most significant confrontation carried out during the American Civil War between Union forces led by General George Meade and Confederate troops led by Robert E Lee.

Memorials dedicated towards honoring those who died celebrating where they fought have been erected all across Pennsylvania- popular belief offers that Americans from all backgrounds can find some degree solace amongst such places while also inspiring us all.

Understanding the Events of the Three-Day Battle:

So what makes this particular battle so noteworthy? Firstly, it was highly consequential due to its strategic location which enabled both sides to either control or cut vital railroads supplying their respective armies with supplies. Secondly, it saw some, casualties - more than that had been recorded at any other single engagement in North America thus far - making it an especially bloody affair particularly when examining casualty rates per unit size used on both sides. Finally, ultimately proving successful for Union forces helped end Confederate General Robert E Lee’s second invasion into Northern territory securing a much needed psychological victory for them as well as ensuring national cohesion remained intact by preserving nationhood under one flag.

Most notably there is recognition given to Abraham Lincoln who used this particular battle’s success to solidify his words “That government shall not perish from world” within. His Gettysburg Address too would become iconic amongst Americans forever.
